Commercial Garage Door Won't Open or Close
A door stuck open leaves the building unsecured. A door stuck closed stops shipping and receiving. The cause is usually a spring, a cable, a safety sensor or the opener, and we check all of them.
If the door will not open
- A broken spring makes the door too heavy to lift
- A cable is broken or off the drum
- The opener has power but the motor hums or strains
- The manual chain or release is still engaged
- A lock or slide bolt is still in place
If the door will not close
- The safety sensors are blocked, dirty or out of line
- The opener's close limit or force setting is off
- Something is in the track or the door is binding
- The wall control or a stuck button is the problem
- The door is off track
Quick checks you can do
- Make sure the opener has power and the breaker is on
- Clear anything from the doorway and wipe the sensor lenses
- Look for a gap in the spring above the door
- Look for loose or hanging cables
If you see a broken spring or cable, stop and call us. Do not run the opener.

The opener may be disconnected from the door, or a spring may be broken so the door is too heavy. Do not keep pressing the button.
