Self-storage roll-up doors
Storage Unit Roll-Up Door Spring Replacement
Roll-up doors are balanced by springs inside the barrel at the top of the door. When a spring breaks or loses tension, the door is heavy to lift or slides back down. We replace springs and set the tension.

Signs of a spring problem
- The door is very heavy to lift
- The door will not stay open
- The door shoots up too fast
- A loud bang from the top of the door
What we do
- Replace broken torsion springs
- Adjust spring tension so the door lifts easily
- Check the barrel, bearings and brackets
- Check the curtain and guides while we are there

Spring Replacement questions
Can a tenant adjust the spring?
No. Roll-up springs are under tension and can cause injury. Spring work should be done by a technician.
Is it just tension or a broken spring?
Sometimes the spring only needs tension added. If it is broken or worn out, we replace it.
Can you check all the doors at once?
Yes. See self-storage door maintenance programs.
